Tobacco Projects

Each student group will prepare a Google Docs Presentation on their topic.
  • The presentation will need to provide a complete answer to the question. Presentations will be completed as a Prezi.
  • Each student in the group will need to create a "Tobacco" page on their Apps Site and site all the sources used in their work.
  • Students will be given three class days to research and complete the project.
  • Make sure and start with the content in the text and then add to that material.
  • A minimum of four references should be used. Each presentation should have a reference section at the end.
  • A rubric will be provided for final grading of the presentation.

Each student will be assigned to one of the following topics:

1. Why is tobacco addictive? Include a cycle diagram that depicts the relationship between dopamine and nicotine.
2. What are the chemicals in cigarettes? Include a bar chart in the presentation that shows the relative amounts of each chemical.
3. How does tobacco affect the body? Include a visual of the human body in the presentation including the organs affected.
4. What are the current statistics on teen tobacco use and how can use be reduced? Include a data map of the USA in the presentation.
5. How can people quit smoking? (cessation programs) Include a flow chart in the presentation that indicates the possible options.
6. How do smokers effect nonsmokers? Include a graphic that includes all the affects in the presentation.
7. Identify, describe and assess available health services in the community that provide tobacco cessation programs. Include a chart in the presentation that compare these services.
8. If you have a close friend who wants to use tobacco to relieve stress. Use the 6 steps of decision making to form an action plan. Show the action plan as a time line or a flowchart in your presentation.
9. You know friend who is pregnant and you would like to help her quit smoking. Use the 6 steps of decision making to form an action plan. Show the action plan as a time line or a flowchart in your presentation.
